GGIS is a school that equips students for a healthy life filled with meaningful relationships with God and their fellow man. This equipping is built on three core values: morality, discipline and respect.
One of our most important goals at GGIS is to develop a strong moral character in each of our students. A strong moral character implies that each student lives within healthy and safe boundaries.
Students develop the ability to distinguish between right and wrong, good and bad behavior and the benefits of making right choices.
The school culture, structure and policies provide students the training they need to become disciplined people.
Over the course of their time at GGIS, students develop self-control, learn to manage their time, are encouraged to demonstrate perseverance and determination, and generally learn the art of profitable, productive, peaceful and joyful living.
Students learn to value all people as equally, infinitely and eternally valuable. This value system results in students treating all people as equals and worthy of respect and honor that includes relating to the people with whom they work, play and live with honesty, kindness and truth.
There are over 25 nationalities represented in GGIS, and cultural diversity is both respected and celebrated. We understand that our students come from diverse family settings, a myriad of educational backgrounds, and that they enter the school with varied levels of English language. Our teachers work diligently to engage and challenge each student, recognizing each one as a unique learner. Small class sizes allow the individualized instruction and increased teacher-student interaction that is vital to academic motivation and success.
GGIS offers one of the best English language acquisition programs in all of Budapest. Because so many of our students are not native English speakers, we have developed an extremely language-rich academic program on every level. Vocabulary instruction and speaking opportunities are embedded into every lesson, grades K-12th. Our pull out English as an Additional Language (EAL) program provides the extra instruction and practice needed for maximum language acquisition success for the novice English speaker.
The two plus years of the COVID-19 pandemic resulted in students’ overexposure to the digital world. At GGIS we believe too much screen time is unhealthy and students whose education is limited to online classes lack important elements of a well-rounded education. Our academic programs are enhanced by the use of technology both in the classroom and at home; it is a tool that cannot be neglected in any well rounded educational program. As a practical goal we train each student to be proficient at Microsoft Office Suite and Google Workspace.
Our students are exposed to research and writing tools that will serve them their entire lives. Knowing that our students spend many hours online each day, we endeavor to safeguard our students by teaching them the proper use of technology and how to avoid the pitfalls that can negatively impact and even destroy their lives. Our staff is dedicated to emplanting our core values of morality, discipline and respect into the digital lives of our students. These timeless principles will guide our students to recognize and avoid dangerous and risky online behaviors, and help establish ethical boundaries they need to lead them in their choices while engaged with the digital world.
We believe that developing healthy relationships and learning important life skills require a person-to-person, face-to-face learning environment. Research shows that our happiness, well-being and even lifespan depend on the quantity of high quality relationships we have with others. Therefore, one of the important objectives at GGIS is to train students in relationship building.
Skills like empathy, understanding, listening, forgiving, reading non-verbal communication, picking up on social queues and how to communicate in a way that is caring and loving cannot be developed online. The in-person classroom experience where students have real face-to-face encounters with other people is the best place for these skills to be developed. At GGIS we believe that academic discipline, faith in God and relationship building skills are key components to a successful life.
As one of Budapest’s premier international schools, GGIS provides a world-class education to every student at every educational level. We seek to provide an education that goes beyond pure academics: an education that trains the next generation to be people of character, integrity and compassion; preparing them to make a positive impact on the world whatever their career choice.
Our devoted, experienced and caring teachers guide the students by modeling the life and love of Jesus Christ in their relationships with their students.
Every academic and behavioral objective, every athletic event and dramatic performance, every field trip and community outreach, every essay and oral report is designed to prepare our students for a purposeful life characterized by wisdom that leads to excellence and success. Our prayer is that each student will leave GGIS with not only the education, maturity and experience they need for their next step in life, but also an eternal perspective of life and a real relationship with God.
We believe it is vital to train our students not only in knowledge but also in wisdom. The following verses from Proverbs 3 describe well our everyday objective in every classroom.
“Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.” Wisdom is the real goal. If one gets wisdom, they have everything they need. Wisdom goes beyond knowledge to understanding and ultimately to the life skill of properly applying knowledge. At GGIS, wisdom is prized above academic knowledge.
“Happy is the man that finds wisdom, and the man that gets understanding.”
